In 2012, February, Gursimran Khamba and Tanmay Bhat put out their first episode of All India Bakchod (AIB), a comedy podcast that discussed current affairs and documented the lives of anybody significant to India’s growing comedy culture. The podcast was received well, by which we mean that 3 dudes on twitter liked it, and that made Bhat and Khamba put out more and more episodes, each more politically incorrect than the other. The two also did hour long conversations with an eclectic set of guests ranging from Russell Peters, Raju Srivastav to Ranvir Shorey and Anurag Kashyap. The podcast was number 1 on iTunes for the longest time before iTunes India banned them and everything else that was marked as 18+ on the Indian iTunes store (including international podcasts like Marc Maron, Nerdist etc). Bhat and Khamba have denounced Apple products since then and are currently using Thinkpads from the year 1988.
Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya, fellow comedians and close friends of Bhat and Khamba soon joined AIB as the group as the four of them started doing live stand up, sketch, musical and improvised comedy on stage. Since then, AIB has been the highest selling comedy act in town with an insane 42 consecutive sold out shows in 2013, including 10,000 tickets of their flagship spoof-bollywood award show The Royal Turds (what a classy name, no?).
AIB soon started doing sketch comedy on video and their YouTube channel is currently one of the fastest growing channels in India. When they’re not replying to idiots who go “u guys suxxx” on YouTube’s comments sections, the four are busy writing sketches to put out for free on the internet that ungrateful people eventually consume and critique.
The group finally managed to make enough money to hire designers who finally designed this website. Tanmay, Ashish, Rohan and Khamba are usually extremely vela and are consistently online so feel free to write to them at allindiabakchod at gmail.com. If you have something interesting to say you should get an instant reply. Go on. Say hello.
